Sonic Boom was announced last year, along with a teaser image showing some crazy changes to the way Sonic and friends looked. Yesterday SEGA revealed more about the direction they're taking the Blue Blur, introducing a whole new Sonic Universe for a brand new CGI TV series, Nintendo-exclusive video game and toy line.

The Wii U has been nothing but trouble for Nintendo. As Nikkei reported today, the poor sales resulted in the Big N recently getting slammed with a $15 million dollar operating loss, which is forcing President Satoru Iwata to take a 50 percent pay cut from now until June. Other executives are taking pay cuts, as well, by as much as 30 percent.

A Japanese newspaper reckons Nintendo have been thinking up various ways of bringing their IP to mobile devices (or rather, bringing people who use mobile devices to their consoles). Not only has this been going on for the last few months, but they're about to announce exactly what these plans are.

Last Friday, Nintendo announced a drop in expected Wii U sales from 9 million to a meager 2.8 million, representing an almost 70% drop. Even before this announcement, however, journalists and fans alike have been debating on how Nintendo can turn their current console around. During the 1990s and early 2000s, Nintendo fans were treated to a number of quality games, both for the casual and hardcore fan. It could be argued that this changed after the released of the N64.

Hackers have managed to get the Wii U Tablet working without the Wii U console, a feat that will no doubt significantly raise the interest in the Wii U controller for the gaming demographic that enjoying playing video games while sat on the toilet. It’s not all good news though: Nintendo still don’t sell the gamepads separately, and that might make attaining one without buying a console rather difficult. Hyrule Warriors/Zelda Musou, is a brand new action fighting game scheduled for release on the Wii U sometime in 2014, and is being developed in collaboration with Tecmo Koei, creators of the Dynasty Warriors franchise.

Masahiro Sakuarai has taken to the Miiverse to announce a brand new stage for Super Smash Brothers, due out for Wii U and 3DS next year. Based on the most critically acclaimed game of all time, Mario Galaxy, this new stage will boast a slightly change in physics designed to make you play in a different way.

The PlayStation 4 isn't available in the UK until the end of the month, and yet more people have ordered the game for the PS4 than they have for the Wii U.

Nintendo has released 6 minutes of in-game footage for their latest entry in the Mario franchise, Super Mario 3D World. The black, 32GB Wii U Deluxe no longer comes with Nintendo Land, and is now being packaged with New Super Mario Bros. U. As an added bonus, it also comes with New Super Luigi Bros.
