Enslaved: Odyssey to the West Coming to PC, Re-released on PS3

The criminally underrated Enslaved: Odyssey to the West will be getting a re-release on PlayStation 3, and will be available to purchase for the first time on PC, Namco Bandai have today confirmed. There were rumours before – it showed up on the Australian classification board – but it’s now official.

Based around Journey into the West, the Chinese folk story in which a Buddhist priest must journey to India, although it’s best known for its Monkey King character. Rather than following the original plot too closely, Enslaved set its story in a post-apocalyptic future, and had Monkey help “Trip” to her village. Of course, the slave headband was still a major part of proceedings, and was part of the development of the characters.

Despite receiving incredibly positive scores, Enslaved didn’t sell especially well and became something of a joke (amongst people that had never played it…). While it certainly had its flaws, it was well worth a play, and here’s hoping that the release on PC gives it a new lease of life.

It’s still unsure whether the premium pack will contain the DLC released for the game – you’d presume it would – but an official announcement, along with a press release, will likely be issued over the next few days, and we’ll learn more about content and release dates.
