Gumball in Trick-or-Treat Land (Steam) Impressions
Right when the game started I immediately got retro 90’s vibes which triggered my inner nostalgic happiness. Developed by Exquisite Laundry Pet LLC and published by Mega Cat Studios our furry retro friends who bring us back to the good times. We start the game as Gumball dropped into Halloween Land which is beautifully crafted. Filled with unique characters, amazing retro turn based combat which brought me back to my childhood, and funny writing is a sweet sugar coated combo. Our mission is to get Gumball home but we will face many challenges along the way.
Gumball in Trick-or-Treat Land is unique. I personally love Halloween and the fall season. As I was dropped into Halloween Land and began to take control of Gumball I immediately started to explore which triggered my first battle. The battles are turn-based; you can attack, use items, spells and more. Attacks can also actually miss sometimes. I was lucky to have some potion. When playing PC I always use a controller due to this being a more enjoyable experience for me. Gumball in Trick-or-Treat Land worked very well with my Xbox controller.
The world is full of 2D pixelated colours which make the world stand out. As I progressed through the game it gave me more and more Pokemon vibes which I was there for. It’s important to have items on hand for the battles potions have saved me more than once.
With so many quests and people to meet it’s full of sweet moments with a spooky theme. The world is full of different characters to speak to make sure you talk to everyone you see.
Stumpy the tree is key, make sure you interact with him as when you die we get the game over and go to the last tree. He also saves your game but you can save your game manually as well.
The game starts off with easy battles however don’t get used to it as you level up and progress it gets more difficult.
Gumball in Trick-or-Treat Land is fun for everyone who likes gaming at any age. It all came together for me with that retro feel, catchy soundtrack, topped with beautifully done pixel art. While playing you get about 8 hours of sugar packed fun even after completing the game you can load your file and explore the land to see if you missed anything.
At the games pricepoint it makes it a no brainer to play. Packed with charm and an adventure that will bring sweet happiness to all players.
