SteelSeries Rival 310 Mouse Review
SteelSeries is known for releasing a number of tournament grade, professional gaming PC accessories, and their Rival lineup is no stranger to the eSports scene. Many professional gaming teams are representing SteelSeries, and to accommodate this constantly changing industry, SteelSeries is looking to launch new products into the marketplace. Of those products – the Rival 310 – is a new mouse catering to the eSports and hard core gaming community, and it comes in at an outstanding price!
When you get the Rival 310 out of the box and setup with your PC, you will instantly appreciate the ergonomic right-handed design and silicone side gripes that make using this mouse – for right handed individuals – a treat! I’ve used many powerful mice in the past, but never had one feel as comfortable in my hands as this one. For those planning to play for hours on end – again, the marketplace SteelSeries is looking at with this launch – their are few mice on the market more comfortable than this one.
And don’t forget how light this mouse actually is. I’m stunned that SteelSeries was able to include so many great features while keeping the mouse down to only 88.3g. Using only the best materials to create the most comfortable, ergonomic design possible, the Rival 310 will be the perfect companion for those competitive matches.
SteelSeries understands that the mouse will be put through it paces a lot, so they have built the buttons with Omron 50-million click mechanical switches. Not only does these switches give the satisfying click each time they are pressed, but with 50 million clicks at your disposal, you’re likely to never buy another mouse again! Well, you probably will, but if you don’t want to and you treat your product right, you won’t have to for a long, LONG time!
The Split Trigger buttons – first introduced in the Rival 700 model – is great for competitive players. You’ll never wonder which side you are pressing, even if you default to clicking near the middle of the mouse. Having separate triggers is also valuable when playing first person shooters, as you will notice the consistency when firing weapons.
TrueMove3 Optical Sensor
The real reason to drop your current mouse and pick up this attractive 79.99 option is the TrueMove3 sensor built into the device. Here the technical speak from SteelSeries:
TrueMove3 is a 12,000 CPI, 350 IPS optical sensor built exclusively with industry leader PixArt. Instead of focusing on CPI alone, TrueMove3 was engineered for true 1-to-1 tracking. Moving a specific distance on a mousepad results in the same exact distance on screen, without introducing latency, interpolation, or affecting jitter reduction.
You can find more on the SteelSeries blog here regarding TrueMove3 censors! The long and short of it is that you will get a much more accurate experience using the Rival 310. The amount you move your mouse physically will be mimicked on screen. Many other mouse companies claim to have a similar tracking system, but when doing my own tests using a variety of mice options – some much more expensive than the Rival 310 – I’ve noticed a definite improvement in my time with the newest SteelSeries mouse.
Conclusion
When it comes to the technological aspects of the mouse, I’m the absolute worst person to talk to. But when it comes to functionality and comfort, I can safely say this is one of the best mouse peripherals I have ever used. I often experience hand cramps when using other, bulkier units, but this slim design and beautiful form factor make using it for hours easy and comfortable. At 69.99, with the TrueMove3 censors and the 50 million click guarantee, you cannot go wrong!
