In between Pokopia, Animal Crossing, and other big cozy simulation games we shouldn’t forget about indie creators. Some of the best cozy games have come from smaller companies. One of the newest coming out soon is Collector’s Cove. Is it worth a look? Here’s our review!

The main character of Collector’s Cove is the son or daughter, your choice, of collectors who go out in the world to find and catalog objects and living things alike. Sailing on their on boat with a giant sea creature in front of it and leading the way, you’ll go to different islands to see what’s out there and make your parents proud.

The story in Collector’s Cove is neat but its just the set-up for this game’s cozy and very cute gameplay.

Collector’s Cove is a cozy simulation game that’s closer to games like Stardew Valley or Harvest Moon, rather than Animal Crossing. You’ll be exploring different islands, growing veggies on boat, fishing, digging and more. Time runs quickly like Harvest Moon too. And if you sleep, you can make it go back even quicker.

Anyone can jump right into Collector’s Cove and the game never feels like its trying to push you despite how fast the time goes. You can take this game as quick or as slow as you want. The gameplay loop of going to islands, checking them out, then getting back onto your boat to go to next one is pretty cool. There are definitely goals in this game but you can take your time if you want. This is a really cute game.

The controls are simple, with the only thing being a little bit challenging is the fishing. Its better fishing than some indie games but not as easy as say, Animal Crossing or even Harvest Moon. The game can be a little challenging but its still a cozy and very cute sim.

That said, despite its cool premise of going to different islands, a lot of what you’ll find in Collector’s Cove is what you’ll find in most cozy simulation games. It is a neat game but it doesn’t really try anything too different. If you need a new cozy simulation game in between Animal Crossing and can’t afford a Switch 2 to play Pokopia, you may want to consider this one. Its a good time killer. Though its graphics are not perfect.

If you’re looking for a great looking game with Collector’s Cove, well, you’ll find a cute and oaky looking one instead. The game doesn’t look bad but it can’t stand with the big ones like Harvest Moon or Animal Crossing and its not exactly Stardew Valley either. There are also some glitches, for instance the weird line that comes out of your character’s head when the camera is up close. Some of this stuff may even be patched soon and be no issues though. Collector’s Cove is still pretty good though.

If you need new simulation game to play and love games like Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley or any of the better indie simulation games, then you may be interested in Collector’s Cove. Its not perfect but it is a really cute and fun game. Its another excellent addition to the Nintendo Switch’s library.

Thanks to Pirate PR for providing a digital code for this review. Collector’s Cove will be on the Nintendo Switch eShop on March 12th, 2026.
