Star Wars Outlaws Nintendo Switch 2 Review
A long time ago on consoles far far away….a game came out that was set in the Star Wars universe. It was called Star Wars Outlaws. Nintendo fans could only dream about it. That is until, somehow, the Switch 2 appeared! Then Ubisoft made a version of the game for the Switch 2. Here’s our review of Star Wars Outlaws for the Nintendo Switch 2.
In Star Wars Outlaws, you play as Kay Vess a smuggler and a rogue much like Han Solo. She travels the universe making her own rules, taking on heists and other jobs that are not strictly legal. And then one day, she accidently makes the wrong person mad at her. Kay now has a bounty on her head. She needs a way out and one appears: take on a new heist…against the guy who put a bounty on her head! For this, she’ll need a team and then she’ll need a lot of luck.
The story in Star Wars Outlaws is really good. It feels similar to the movie Solo if you’ve seen that, with a bit of the Empire Strikes Back in its blood. Kay and the characters that surround her feel very Star Wars in a good way. If you’re a fan of the galaxy far far away, you’ll likely love this story. What about its gameplay though? How does the game run on Nintendo Switch 2?

First of all, you’re probably wondering: how does this game run on the Nintendo Switch 2?
Star Wars Outlaws runs really well on the Switch 2. While playing it, we encountered only one glitch that threw us out of the game. Otherwise the framerate is solid and there were no major glitches. The action runs fast and the game controls great on the Switch 2. In fact, there are some optional touch screen controls for certain mini-games like the digital lock picking. This version of Outlaws feels like it was designed with the Switch 2 in mind.
The gameplay is a lot of fun for the most part. If you’ve never played Star Wars Outlaws before, the pitch is that its basically Star Wars meets Uncharted. You’ll climb ledges, jump, swing, sneak around and get into some epic fights too. The game really does feel a lot like Uncharted but Star Wars and thats not a bad thing at all. You’ll even occasionally raid a cave or ship and that feels a lot like an Uncharted thing. Outlaws does have some environments that are far more open than Uncharted though. It also has some outer space exploration and dogfights that are pretty cool.
However there are some repetitive aspects to the game. When recruiting your team, the mission there can feel a bit like “oh didn’t I do this last time” and while there some optional missions, they are not all unique. Also you’ll fight a lot of stormtroopers, and some of the same aliens over and over, in this game. Largely though, there is just so much do in this game. Lots of mini-games, including cool “retro” arcade games, a card game, and more. Plus tons of side missions, people to steal from and lot of places to visit. And if you get the Gold Edition of the game, which we did get for review, you’ll get to check out the awesome DLC quests!
Star Wars Outlaws is a really great overall. And the graphics and soundtrack absolutely do not disappoint on Switch 2.

Star Wars Outlaws looks really great on Switch 2. It looks far better than you’d think it would look. Kay, her buddy Nix, and everyone she encounters look fantastic. The cutscenes are especially good; we love the original trilogy scene wipes that feel very New Hope. There are occasionally some weird glitches that happen with Kay’s hair but overall, this game beautiful on Switch 2.
Meanwhile, the audio is pure Star Wars awesomeness. The music is so good, with some nice original music and of course the music you’d expect. The sound effects sound really good too. And the voice acting is excellent.
Star Wars Outlaws is a great addition to the Nintendo Switch 2’s library.

If you love Star Wars and you have a Switch 2, Star Wars Outlaws is a must play, especially if you haven’t played the game on another system. The game runs very well on Switch, with very few hiccups and the visuals look great. The gameplay can sometimes feel repetitive but overall, with the huge worlds to explore and lots of things to do, this game will keep you busy for a good while. May it the force be with the Switch 2! This is a great port to an excellent game.
A digital code was provided for this review. Star Wars Outlaws is now available on the Nintendo Switch 2.
