Disney Lorcana Fabled Accessories
Disney Lorcana is back with another release and while there isn’t anything crazy like locations or duel inked cards to get excited about this time around, there are reasons to invest in this new set. New card rarities is a good start, but also a bunch of old cards have been reprinted in this set, so if you were looking for early Lorcana cards for your decks, they might be available now. What we are here to discuss, though, are all the accessories launching alongside this release!
Mats are probably my favorite Disney Lorcana accessory for the sole reason that you get the awesome card art blown up on a Playmat. This time around we are getting GORGEOUS Cinderella and Mufasa maps, showcasing some of the new artwork you’ll be seeing in new rarity cards in this set. I think the Cinderella mat is beautiful, but the Mufasa design might just be Ravensburger’s best design on a Playmat. It is full of colour and pops on the table. I’ve used it at a few events since getting it, and I’m constantly getting compliments – it is sold out all around me as well!
It was nice to see new deck boxes and sleeves released for the Fabled Launch. I’m particularly excited about the Goofy Movie box and sleeves, which go well with the Goofy Movie themed deck that was also released.
Speaking of decks, I’m of mixed opinions this time around on the decks. The Emerald Sapphire deck featuring Mulan and Ariel felt really familiar to me. It’s a good starter deck and it held up well in the various games we played, but as someone who gets really excited to try starter decks with each release, this is the most disappointing I’ve felt in a long time. Mind you, this is personal preference, and also might be influenced by what might be my favourite starter deck ever, the Emerald Ruby deck featuring The Goofy Movie.
Honestly, Disney and Ravensburger hit it out of the park by featuring Goofy, Max, Powerline and the whole gang into this release. It’s not the best starter deck I’ve ever used, but it’s easily my favourite. The Goofy Movie is one of my favourite movies of all time, and honestly I wasn’t sure if we would ever see Max, let alone Powerline, ever get featured in the game. If we were going to get it, it would have been for the anniversary of the film. And Disney delivered.
The Illumines Trove was also really awesome. All the card dividers have a fantastic holo foil finish, and the dice featuring all the different card colours was a really nice touch. The holo finish covering EVERYTHING in this release even made its way onto the Lore tracker dile, which honestly I did think was a bit much…
Overall, I think Fabled is a fantastic entry point for anyone jumping into the game, but is also a nice treat for longtime fans. Ravensburger was kind enough to supply this product for us, and will be sending a Booster Box of packs in the near future! Stay tuned for more Lorcana goodness!
