Stonesaga Meals and Myths Components Overview and Impressions

Stonesaga is an epic, sprawling open world game where you will be exploring a new world, crafting items, and now, cooking food! The Meals and Mayths expansions arrived recently to our GamesReviews HQ, and I had to get it open as soon as possible! Let’s check out the components in Meals and Myths!

Although a copy of Stonesaga base games as sent to us for review by Open Owl Studios, Meals and Myths was part of our own All-In pledge that we preordered!

I think cooking is going to be awesome in Stonesaga, and there is no shortage of recipes for you to try out. There is other content here as well, and it all folds into the base game nicely, thanks to a wonderfully detailed and very precise setup guide found in the expansions rulebook. I find sometimes folding expansions into base games, especially adventure games, can be tedious work, but the detailed explanation made this an absolute breeze!

There are a bunch of extra tokens that match those of the base game, and for good reason. Meals and Myths comes with a brand new character to play as. Adding another player into the game requires more tokens, and you get plenty here in my opinion. There are new egg and honey tokens as well, which will come into play as you begin exploring the world and dive into the world of crafting.

The new character miniature, as well as the brand new behemoth miniature, are wonderfully detailed, much the same as those found in the base game. I love when games provide a bit more variety through expansions, and that is what Meals and Myths does on this front. Also new are the volcanic region tiles. These will only come into play when discovered, so we won’t ruin that experience here. Rest assured, new tiles means new adventures, so that is reason enough to get excited!

The game adds more other things too, including foraging cards, item cards, structure cards, journey and night cards, and more. This expansion doesn’t just introduce a few new mechanics and ideas, it adds to what you might already have experienced. Like with many expansions Open Owl Studios has released for their big-box games, it breathes more life into what is already a fantastic experience; this doesn’t fix the experience, in my opinion, but rather adds to it.

I’m really excited about the Meals and Myths expansion – once we have a better understanding of what all the new features do, we will be sure to circle back with a review!
