5 Minutes – One Piece Components Overview and Impressions
If you have played any of the 5 Minute games, you know they are generally pretty chaotic, but lots of fun. The best part is they are all wrapped up in 5 minutes or less (per round) which makes them playable again and again and again. I had no idea there was going to be a 5 Minutes – One Piece game based on the Netflix show, but it showed up yesterday. Let’s get this unboxed and see what it is all about!

For what you get in the box, I found the box itself to be comically large. Even when I opened it up, I was beginning to wonder why there was so much room inside the box for cards. This is a card heavy game, and the quality of the cards is pretty darn good. I would argue you would want to sleeve this game if you plan to play it a lot, and thankfully the oversized box I was originally curious about made a lot more sense – this insert has room for sleeved cards, with a different spot in the box for each of the games six players. The cards feel pretty thin, but they are definitely linen finish. They feel like cards I’ve used in other 5 Minute games as well. I have 5 Minute Marvel which is NOT sleeved and those cards have held up well over a long period of time. That said, I’ve only played it a dozen times or so, so if you plan to play even more than that, start sleeving!
There are also oversized player cards and encounter cards, and those are a bit larger. I’m not 100% sure these specific cards need to be sleeved, and if you did, I don’t think they would fit into the insert. There is also a dual layered cardboard board that goes together like puzzle pieces. Although I haven’t played yet, this feels like a spot where you might be playing cards, but I’m not sure. It looks great but does suffer from all dual layered boards in that it came really warped. Heavy boxes flattened it out, though.

The artwork across is going to be divicive, although it shouldn’t be. I prefer the One Piece anime artwork over the live action Netflix show look, but this game is BASED on the Netflix show so obviously the art will reflect that. It was the first comment from my One Piece loving son, and was the first thing I thought about too. That said, if you love the Netflix show, you’ll see so many familiar faces as you play through this game!
As we noted before, the game does come with an insert, and that is HUGE plus in my books. Inserts should be standard in board games in 2026, but sadly they are not. I’m so glad to see it here.
