Most Anticipated Games of 2026 (Series) – Western Legends Stories
Western Legends is a game that came out quite some time ago, but it wasn’t until early 2025 that I took the game for a spin for the first time. Thanks to our friends at Kolossal Games, we got the entire Western Legends release including the various expansions. Each game of Western Legends I played in 2025 was some of the most fun board game experiences I have ever had, running around a sandbox open world doing whatever the heck I wanted. For that reason, Western Legends Stories, a campaign game of opening up the wild frontier, is one of my most anticipated games of 2026.

In Western Legend Stories, players will be unlocking – figuratively and literally – the Wild West, opening up new territories, encountering new people and wildlife, building towns, and so much more. The game takes the basics of Western Legends – that wild west open sandbox experience – and makes it an exploratory effort. All the things you loved in Western Legends is making an appearance here, but you’ll need to work for it all a bit harder. What lies on that undiscovered tile? What might you find in that dense forest? These are the things you will figure out in Western Legends Stories.

Western Legends Stories is a standalone, competitive and narrative open-world campaign game set in the Wild West. Throughout intertwined and fully replayable scenarios, you’ll explore the region and carve your own legend through your glorious (or infamous) deeds, as your decisions have a lasting impact on your environment. In this vast setting, you’ll encounter a diverse cast of characters, wildlife, and locations. Develop your skills as you see fit, gather items, interact with various NPSc and fight your way out of dangerous situations.
