Bloodstone Coming from Druid City Games
Druid City Games – known for hits like Wonderland’s War, and a newer game, Madcala – is launching a game 10 years in the making. Designed by James Hudson and illustrated by David Kegg (Star Wars: Imperial Assault, Sorcerer City, Fireball Island: The Curse of Vul-Kar), “Bloodstone represents the culmination of a decade of iteration, refinement, and worldbuilding.”

Here is an overview of the game from Druid City Games,
In Bloodstone, you play as a captured champion forced by Vanira to fight for her amusement in a brutal arena. Empowered by the Bloodstone, she resurrects fallen warriors to battle again and again… An innovative dice system grants players unique abilities to enhance themselves or sabotage their rivals. When the carnage grows dull, Vanira unleashes monstrous horrors into the fray. Players will be forced to use their wit and cunning to outmaneuver their enemies and survive the endless cycle of bloodshed.
This appears to have been a passion project for designer James Hudson for a long while. Said Hudson, ““I’ve been working on it for over a decade. We first launched during COVID, but like so many things at that time, circumstances forced us to cancel. One night, while watching Wil Wheaton play Titansgrave, I was inspired to create a dynamic dice system for an arena battle game, something that paid homage to my years adventuring in the worlds of Diablo and World of Warcraft. After years of refinement and relentless iteration, I’m proud to present what I believe is the definitive version of Bloodstone. It’s finally ready to make its debut.”
A campaign for Bloodstone originally ran during the COVID 19 pandemic, but Hudson and Druid City Games made the wise decision to cancel the campaign because of rising costs. “Canceling the campaign (the only one I’ve ever canceled) was the right decision. It’s been a long five years, but now the time is finally right for Bloodstone’s return.” Hudson said.
