Dixit Kids Board Game Review
When Dixit Kids arrived for review, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it. My entire family, including my six year old son, already play regular Dixit, so what could Dixit Kids possibly bring to the table? While this isn’t my preferred way to play, my son really enjoyed the cooperative nature of this one. Whether you’ve played regular Dixit or not, there is a reason to enjoy this one!

For a quick overview of how to play, check out this great video from asmodee Kids!
So what makes this so compelling? I will say that my kids have probably almost aged out of this experience, but it was the cooperative nature that is going to be fun, especially for my youngest. Working together to get the invites to the various bunnies is a lot of fun, and choosing cards based on the mood depicted on the various rabbits didn’t feel that far of a stretch from how regular Dixit is played. The game provides you a full weeks worth of turns to figure it all out – 7 turns – but they do recommend for a harder game that you start the token on Wednesday instead of Monday, which only gives you 5 days (essentially allowing you to mess up one time).
The production here is really good for a kids game, but that has become the norm from asmodee Kids. That said, the one thing I wish this game had was a dial for choosing cards. Base Dixit comes with tokens or dials so you can vote on which card you think is the correct card. In Dixit Kids, you are instructed to raise a finger when you think you are ready to guess, and simply point at the card you think is correct. Not only can this be inaccurate – kids changing where they are pointing, if not up and close with the card – but it’s not really intuitive. A dial or even a set of 4 tokens would have been so much better.
That really is my only gripe here – this game definitely will trend towards 5 – 7 year old’s, with the help of an adult or older child, but it’s still a good experience. And what I really like is that once your kids have aged out of this game, if you don’t have any desire to pass this on or sell it, the cards here can be folded into the regular Dixit experience, providing more choice in that game!
