ARK Ultimate Survivor Edition Nintendo Switch 2 Update

I’ve written numerous times about my love for gaming on the go. You can read my most recent article about Star Wars Outlaws to learn more about my philosophy. I can take worse graphics and worse performance, but not down right terrible. And frankly, ARK: Survival Evolved on Nintendo Switch was a hot mess from day one. Over the course of the games lifespan on the original Nintendo Switch, it did slowly get better. But the development team was hindered by older hardware, not internal issues. With the Nintendo Switch 2, that could all change.

You would be forgiven to think that ARK: Survivor Evolved on Nintendo Switch 2 was just going to be a direct port of the Switch version, i.e. no upgrades, just compatible. And for a few months at least, that was all ARK fans got. But last week, the development team released an upgrade patch to make ARK run much better on Nintendo Switch 2.

Here is what the studio had to say about this upgrade,

Studio Wildcard and development partner Grove Street Games announced that coming today is a major patch for ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition, delivering full backward-compatibility and performance enhancements on Nintendo Switch 2. The patch enables smoother gameplay with improved frame rate and higher resolution, upgraded shadow quality and anti-aliasing quality, ensuring the definitive ARK experience on Nintendo’s new system.\

Studio Wildcard was nice enough to send us a code for the upgraded version of ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition on Nintendo Switch 2, and I can confirm that the game looks so much better, and runs so much smoother, than before. Sure. it’s still not at the quality level of the Xbox Series X or the PlayStation 5, but this game is now VERY playable on Nintendo Switch 2 and we can finally highly recommend you picking this up.

Even if you choose to play the game solo as I do, there is a ton of content to enjoy, and for a very reasonable price as well. If you want the survivor experience on a handheld console, look no further than ARK. This is now one worth playing on Nintendo’s gaming console!
