Honest Reviews. Smarter Play

Star Wars Outlaws – Why I Love my Nintendo Switch 2

Thanks to our friends at Ubisoft Canada, I was able to play through and finish Star Wars Outlaws recently on the Nintendo Switch 2. Our very own Daniel Fugate has already reviewed the game, so go check that out. But I wanted to look at a different aspect of the game, the quality. Would Star Wars Outlaws hold up on Nintendo Switch 2? Or was this a quest you should bail on. Let’s take a look.

It is no secret that, despite the improvements to the Nintendo Switch 2, it still lags behind its PlayStation and Xbox counterparts by quite a bit. I don’t think that statement shocks anyone, but it is worth noting when you begin comparing games on all three platforms. I have played through and beat Star Wars Outlaws on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch 2, and have some interesting, albeit not surprising, comments on them.

Shocker! The Nintendo Switch 2 version is inferior in almost every single way. Frame rate? Inferior. Graphical capabilities? Inferior. Performance? Inferior. Load times? Inferior. So why did I spend hours upon hours playing through a game I’ve already experienced on a system that is inherently inferior to its counterparts? Portability.

I’ve long talked about how I will consume video games in 2025. I have a teenager at home who is always hogging our basement TV, and between my wife and two other kids, our other TV is a mishmash of romantic comedies, Bluey, and Disney vlogs on YouTube. That doesn’t leave a lot of time for console gaming, so unless I look at my wife and say, “I need to get this game reviewed!” I’m honestly not playing a ton of games on the PlayStation 5. Yet, I consume a good number of games in a week, and it’s all because of Nintendo Switch 2.

So yes, Star Wars Outlaws is inferior on the Nintendo Switch 2, but it has one key advantage that my Xbox and PlayStation don’t have – it is portable. I can play a ton of games on my Nintendo Switch, even at a lesser quality. But guess what? I can finish them. And despite the inferiority of the product on the Nintendo Switch 2, I enjoyed Star Wars Outlaws just as much as I did on the PlayStation 5.

Listen here, Nintendo Switch 2 owners. Don’t let the downsides of third party games on Switch hold you back from experiencing the games. Yes, the quality isn’t the same, but if this is the only way you can experience a really strong Star Wars experience, I say take it, and enjoy it!
