Disney Lorcana at Sea – Lorcana Events on the Disney Treasure
Last week, my family and I had the pleasure of sailing on Disney’s newest active cruise ship, the Disney Treasure. We will have a full review of our cruise coming up on the site in a few weeks, but there was one specific event offered throughout the voyage that 1) I was surprised by; and 2) was incredible amounts of fun.
Disney Lorcana has finally invaded the High Seas, and the crew of the Disney Treasure were ready to provide passengers with a fantastic Lorcana experience.
Disney was offering a number of exclusive promotional cards that can only be found on their Disney Treasure cruise ship. These cards were given out in a variety of ways:
Mickey Mouse: One card per person per cabin was provided on Disney’s Priate Night during the cruise.
Daisy and Donald Duck: These cards were provided when quests were completed. Each cruiser received one basic quest PER session, which when completed would be upgraded to an advanced quest. By completing both, you could get one of each card, per person, per session.
Minnie Mouse: Minnie Mouse was the only card that had a cost tied to it. To get Minnie Mouse, you would have to purchase a copy of Reign of Jafar cooperative experience, two Starter Deck packages, or a playmat. With a purchase, you would receive a Minnie Mouse.
Goofy: On the final Sea Day of the cruise, there was a meetup event where people were encouraged to trade, complete quests, and play against other cruisers. After the hour long event, each person who participated received one complementary Goofy card.
We walked off the cruise ship with at least one of every promotional card except Minnie Mouse. As we owned all the products being offered, it didn’t make sense for us to purchase them again.
What I was astounded by was the number of people who wanted to take part in this experience, and the ages were across the board. I spoke with one woman and her husband who were 75 years old, had never heard of Disney Lorcana, but were excited to try it out. All of the events were excellent, and knowledge ship staff were on hand to teach and explain the game, the cards, and more. Trading with our cruisers to complete card quests was a lot of fun as well, and even my six year old son was getting in on the action.
The quests revolved around finding 5 different cards from a specific theme. As they were using the Azurite Sea release for these events, some quests required cards from Winnie the Pooh, Wreck-It Ralph, Peter Pan, Chip N Dale: Rescue Rangers, and more. After trading and getting your 5 cards, you went and traded them in for a promo card and another quest to complete. Across our 7 night cruise, there were 3 of these events, and at each event we got two free booster packs, a brand new basic quest, and a canvas bag. Let me tell you, we came home with TONS of Lorcana stuff!
The Lorcana event lines were easily the largest on the ship for any event, and I’m pleased to say that they never ran out of products. So if you happen to be sailing on the Disney Treasure while these events are happening, rest assured that even if you show up 5-10 minutes after the event starts, and after the line has disappeared, you will still get your products to try!
So many new Lorcana fans were created on this cruise. I talked with dozens of people in line and more than half either had no idea what this was, or have never dabbled in it. If Disney’s plan with these events was to move more product from store shelves on land, they definitely are going to be successful. So many people left excited to buy more products – I do believe they eventually sold out of the ship stock on the final day of the cruise!
If you are planning a cruise on the Disney Treasure, these Disney Lorcana events are ones you don’t want to miss!
