Dustbiters is Live on Kickstarter
How can you not want to play a card game that was introduce on Kickstarter by Tim Schafer? Ya, that’s pretty rad, we thought so too. Dustbiters, the fast passed and quick game of rival car gangs is hitting the popular crowd funding platform, and you can join in the fun and get some limited Kickstarter merchandise with your pledge right now! But what is this game all about? Honestly, are we really going to purchase a game just because Tim Schafer did the promo video (yes, yes we are.)?
In Dustbiters…wait, let’s just grab the text from the Kickstarter…Last car standing wins! It’s 100 miles an hour in the dirt and you’re gonna need all the cunning, trickery and horsepower you’ve got!DUSTBITERS is quick to learn and easy to understand. There are very few rules, but an infinite number of creative ways to get yourself out of a tough situation.
- Cars are *everything*. There are no tokens, no math, no dice. Just cars. Each is unique and affects those around it in different and surprising ways.
- During your turn you will have 3 actions to spend in a variety of ways. To win, you must make clever use of your cars to destroy – or outlast your opponent.
- But don’t forget – at the end of each turn the dust storm will destroy whichever car is at the back of the convoy!
- Will you drive SPIKY one space forward to save it from the dust storm? Or… should you use your MIND MANIPULATOR to take over the enemy RAMP TRUCK and ramp it all the way to the front? Or perhaps it’s better to just fire the MORTAR BUS?
Seems fairly simple, right? You can find all the rules for the game by clicking here and scrolling down. Yup, that was another Kickstarter link, and NO I’m unfortunately not getting paid if you click. Did Tim Schafer get paid? Or is he nice like me?!
In all seriousness, when this game was pitched to me by the PR firm – and yes, we will be reviewing soon! – I was instantly intrigued. My wife and I are always looking for quick two player card games that take up minimal space, and this looks to be one that we will get a lot of enjoyment out of. While it could suck – not likely? – it’s so rare to find two player games that even one that isn’t perfect still makes it to the table more often then a massive, $60+ behemoth.
Oh ya, and it’s only about $30 CAD to back it (plus shipping)! Check it out now!
