Final Fantasy Type-0 looked fantastic, so naturally it never made it over to the west. It's good news then that a small team of fans have been working tirelessly on a fan translation of the game, and even better news that it's almost finished.

If there was a single thing that made me consider a purchase of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, it was the announcement that it will come pre-loaded with voice commands. I never really managed to get into the multiplayer modes present in Tomb Raider, but there were very mixed murmurs about it. Some people loved it, others hated it, but that's what happens when a previously single player franchise turns its attention to the online mode. Those that didn't enjoy it, or who didn't fully test it, have another chance to check it out with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, as the back-end has been completely re-written.

It's a dangerous thing to consider: that game that you paid $60 for last year, re-released on a next-gen machine, where the developers expect you to pay another $60 for some minor new features. On a Q&A at the official Eidos forums, Scot Amos defended the decision to charge full price on the next-gen version of Tomb Raider.

The 'Definitive' version of Tomb Raider might be coming to next-gen consoles - complete with TressFX, a new face and a great big price tag - but that doesn't mean Square Enix isn't willing to try to get PC gamers to buy the same game all over again. Tomb Raider GOTY Edition has appeared on the Steam registry, and that means a new version of 2013's hottest action adventure is absolutely bound to be on the horizon.

The Kingdom Hearts franchise, outside of the first two PS2 titles, is a rather hit and miss affair, storyline wise. There's a lot there that's fun to play and participate in, and then there are other parts that are there basically to show that the universe goes further than Disney. Coded was something different, not exactly important to the overall plot (not exactly in a way that warranted a full game, even a mobile game), but spin-off enough that it didn't matter. Re:Coded suffered (benefited?) from a similar problem, although that's about to change.

Square Enix have today announced that they've released Final Fantasy VIII to PC. It's available to buy from Steam and other online retailers for £9.99, $11.99 and €12.99. While the release contains the usual PC stuff - achievements, cloud saves - this release is also noteworthy for another reason, a reason that may just get long-time fans to double dip: it contains the previously Japan-only Chocobo World mini-game.

If you weren't overly keen on the performances in Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2, Square Enix are offering up the Japanese voice-work for Lightning Returns. That's pretty cool. Less cool? It's free for a fortnight after launch and then will only be available as paid DLC.
