Just because something is "retro inspired" doesn't always make it good. I've played some good retro inspired games and some pretty bad ones too. For me, a retro inspired game should be like an old game but doesn't have to completely ignore modern conveniences like "save anywhere" and multiple modes of difficulty.

The Walking Dead: A New Frontier Episode 3
When I reviewed Episode 1 and 2 of A New Frontier, I was somewhat critical of how quickly Javi was presented to the players. As a new character, I had hoped this back story – mainly the issues with his family – would be explained better to give us a better understanding of his character. Now I see why they didn’t. Episode 3 picks up right where episode 2 ended, and this time around, we are getting a few “Oh…

Back to Bed Review
One of the best things about Indies is that they are not afraid of being weird. Indies generally take more chances than third party developers and create games that are unique and interesting. Not all of these unique and interesting games are good, but I love how Indies are willing to experiment. Take, for instance, Back to Bed for Wii U. You would not see a third party, maybe not even a first party developer, create a game about saving a sleepwalker.

Plantera Review
If Harvest Moon and a cute 2D tower defense game had a love child, it might look like Plantera for the Wii U and 3DS eshops. Build a garden, add animals, and defend that garden like crazy from outside threats! Plantera sounds like it might be a good game for simulation and tower defense fans…but is it? The Wii U and 3DS versions of Plantera have some differences but the basic gameplay is the same between the two versions. Let’s…

Legna Tactica Review
Final Fantasy Tactics. Disaega. Fire Emblem. Legna Tactica. Wait. What was that last one? Legna Tactica is a brand new strategy rpg for the 3DS eshop. Much like the other games named, you’ll be moving your characters across squares in various levels. Legna Tactica shares a lot in common with the games I mentioned, but is it a good game or just a cheap rip-off of other strategy rpgs? Legna Tactica has way too much dialogue! Its similar to Fire…

Turtle Beach Stealth 420X+ Review
A few weeks ago, the good people over at Turtle Beach sent over the Xbox One, 100% wireless Stealth 420X+ headset for us to review. One of the big downsides to the Xbox One is that most headsets are not truly wireless, and the wireless options available on the marketplace have been few and far between. Does the 420X+ provide enough incentives for giving players the ability to go completely wireless? Lets find out. What’s In the Box Turtle Beach…

Gurumin 3D: A Monstrous Adventure Review
Gurumin 3D: A Monstrous Adventure is an action adventure platformer for the 3DS eshop. We’ve seen a few games like this on 3DS but what makes Gurumin different is that it is a fully three dimensional game and more like something we’d see from a retail game. In fact, Gurumin 3D seems like a game that fans of Mario and Zelda would like, but is that true? Is Gurumin 3D a fun addition to the 3DS eshop? The story in…
