I must admit that I have not heard much from Creative in the way of accessories lately. Years ago, I remember them being at the top of the food-chain when it came to desktop speakers and various other accessories. Computers, and what we do with them, has changed greatly over this time. Now, with the gaming accessory market being so large and the competition so high, how is Creative keeping up? Let's take a look!

Our friends at PDP have one of the most impressive and underrated lineups of accessories in the entire world of gaming. Seriously, I had hardly even heard of PDP before I began reviewing their products and now I frequently peruse their site looking for any new and exciting products. So, when I got the opportunity to review their new line of Level 50 stereo headsets, I could hardly wait to set them up and start playing!

Thanks to our good friends at SteelSeries, I recently was given an Arctis 5 headset to review, and I must say that my first impressions were very mixed. It didn’t look flashy, it had a middle-of-the-road feel for both weight and sturdiness and it wasn’t wireless. From someone whose baseline headset is the Logitech G933, it was the exact opposite of what I had become used to. After using the headset for 30+ hours, however, my opinion on it has done a complete reversal.

Although we weren't crazy about everything the headset had to offer, it was a quality product for a great price, and anyone looking for that entry level headset would be well serviced by this device. Performance Design Products has released a number of headsets over the last few years, and to date, none of their recent products have compared to the outstanding AG 9+ they released a few years ago. That's not to say their other products are bad; far from it, as PDP always releases quality products that customers are bound to love. The Astro Gaming name is synonymous with gaming, and for years everyone has assumed that Astro headsets are outside the reach of the average gamer. In the past, this was definitely true, but Astro is running lines of Headsets at a much lower cost, and the Astro A40 TR Headset - aimed at PC and MAC users, but compatible with newer Xbox One controllers and PS4 - is a great headset that comes in at a modest $150 price tag. Overall, that expensive Astro quality is there, but not the excessive pricing.
