Overwatch’s OWCS Midseason Championship brings 16 teams and $1 million

Overwatch returns to the Esports World Cup with the 2026 OWCS Midseason Championship, running July 29 to August 2. According to Blizzard’s official Overwatch Esports site, the 2026 OWCS Season is approaching its halfway point, with the Midseason Championship bringing 16 of the best Overwatch teams in the world to Paris, compiled from regional competitions in Asia, China, North America, and EMEA.

The format sees the first three days making up the Groups Stage, with sixteen teams split into two groups of eight and all Group Stage matches played as best-of-two, before the top four from each group advance to a single-elimination Playoffs Stage. A $1 million prize pool is on the line, according to Liquipedia’s tournament database and esports outlet Fragster, which both list the figure. Crazy Raccoon won the event’s first Paris-era predecessor in 2024, with Team Falcons taking the title in 2025, according to the Esports World Cup’s own competition page.

Warzone’s Resurgence Series Championship fields 32 trios for $1 million

Call of Duty’s battle royale arm lands in the same window, with the Warzone Resurgence Series Championship running July 29 through August 1. Per Call of Duty’s own competitive site, 32 qualified trios will compete across four days for a share of the $1,000,000 prize pool and the 2026 Call of Duty Warzone Resurgence Series Championship title.

This is the first year Warzone’s EWC appearance has been folded into a season-long circuit rather than a standalone invitational. Activision confirmed that in 2026, COD:WRS includes online qualifiers, two mid-season LAN tournaments at DreamHack Birmingham and DreamHack Atlanta, and culminates in a Championship at the Esports World Cup in Paris, France. Team Falcons won the Warzone crown at EWC 2024, with Twisted Minds claiming the title in 2025, per the Esports World Cup’s official Warzone competition page.

Street Fighter 6 crowns its EWC 26 champion from a 32-player field

Street Fighter 6 also opens its EWC 2026 main event on July 29, running through August 1 with a $1,000,000 prize pool and 32 players, according to Liquipedia’s Fighting Games Wiki. The bracket kicks off with four groups of eight players, each playing a double-elimination bracket, with the top four players per group advancing to Stage 2.

Six of those 32 slots were only decided days earlier: EWC’s own recap of Week 3 noted that the Street Fighter 6 Last Chance Qualifier began on July 24 with hundreds of players entering an open bracket, and after several days of competition only the top six earned the final spots in the Street Fighter 6 main event. The event also feeds into Capcom’s wider Capcom Pro Tour 2026 circuit.

MLBB Mid Season Cup wraps up its $3 million finale in Week 4

While the MLBB Mid Season Cup began during Week 3, its knockout stage and grand final spill into Week 4, concluding on August 1. Esports outlet Dot Esports reports the tournament features 16 of the world’s best teams battling for the $1 million champions’ prize in Paris, France from July 22 to August 1, with defending champions Team Liquid PH headlining a field that includes Team Vitality, ONIC, Team Falcons PH, and Selangor Red Giants. Liquipedia’s database puts the tournament’s total prize pool at $3,025,000 across all placements.

MLBB has form as EWC’s biggest draw: esports analytics firm Esports Charts notes that the most popular tournament in the Esports World Cup series to date is the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2025, which reached a peak viewership of over three million. Organisers will be watching closely to see whether the 2026 edition, now running from a new European base rather than Riyadh, can match that number.

Paris debut continues after Riyadh venue switch

Week 4 unfolds against the backdrop of EWC’s first edition outside Saudi Arabia. The event was relocated after organisers cited the regional situation stemming from the Iran–United States conflict, which made the original Riyadh venue impractical for international travel and logistics, with the Esports Foundation confirming the move to Paris in May and stating Riyadh remains the tournament’s long-term home from 2027 onward.

At a press conference on July 8, Esports Foundation CEO Ralf Reichert announced that 100,000 tickets had already been sold for the inaugural Paris edition, which runs across seven weeks to August 23 with 25 tournaments spanning 24 games and a record $75 million total prize pool. For Australian and New Zealand fans, the CEST time zone means most Week 4 grand finals will land in the early hours of the morning locally, making official VOD replays on each game’s own channel the likeliest way to catch the results without an all-night stream.
