More Thoughts From Me: Demo Round-up
Recently I had played a three demos and so I thought I’d share some brief impressions of each of them. These are all games for the Nintendo Switch.

Some new demos have been released this month and I checked them out. I have a Switch 2, so all of them were played on that. Here are my brief impressions of each:
Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection Trial Version: I’m not really a fan of Monster Hunter. I’ve tried but can’t get into it. Monster Hunter Stories is a different matter though. The Stories spinoff is a turn-based jrpg with a cool combat system and an almost Pokémon-like collection of monsters. The third one is a lot like the first two, though the story is totally different. I thought it was pretty interesting. The graphical style and the gameplay remains the same though. Monster Hunter Stories is definitely a game for those who enjoy Pokémon and also want something different from that franchise. This demo is pretty good.
Darwin’s Paradox! Demo: In this demo you play as an octopus named Darwin. The demo has been specifically put together as a tribute to Metal Gear Solid, with funny references to that franchise such as Darwin sneaking around in a box and guards getting ! over their head when they notice something strange. I laughed a lot when playing this game. And it definitely was putting my sneaking skills to the test. I died a lot. My sneaking skills are rusty. Still I had so much fun with this demo and the actual game looks extremely good too.
Pragmata Sketchbook: I wasn’t sure what to think of Pragmata when I saw it shown off during different showcases. However playing the game definitely made me think better of it. Pragmata isn’t your traditional run and gun type of game. There is shooting but you’ll also be doing a puzzle type hacking mode as you attack enemies. Its a little tricky at times but it makes the gameplay much more interesting than it would be if it was just a straight shooter. The graphics look pretty good on Nintendo Switch 2. The demo seemed to run well and I’m now a lot more interested in this game.
Overall, all of the demos were fun. I think I was most impressed by Darwin’s Paradox. Its such a unique game. And I’m a huge Metal Gear Solid fun so I got all the jokes and laughed a lot. I need to play that demo more for sure. Actually I’d love to play all of these demos. I think I definitely need to play Pragmata a bit more for sure. I highly recommend checking out all of these games, especially if you have a Switch 2.
Have you played any cool demos lately? What do you think of the above games?
More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. I hope there’s are demos for Resident Evil 9 Requiem and Pokepia!
