Nintendo of America’s New President and COO Makes First Appearance
Nintendo of America’s new President and Chief Operating Officer made her first appearance at the New York Game Awards, and it ushers in a new era for Nintendo of America with a different person and perspective at the top. For most of us, we’ve only known Nintendo of America being led by male heads, and to see a woman now in this position is pretty exciting. I worry, though, that Devon Pritchard won’t get the grace she deserves as she moves into this role.

Devon has been at Nintendo for two decades, and has worked in many key roles throughout the company. She’s not new to video games and definitely not new to Nintendo. After reading about her career and seeing some of the work she has done, she is the perfect voice to build the next generation of Nintendo in North America. My biggest concern is the crappy world we live in.
There are those excited about Devon’s advancement to President and COO, who will expect a lot of her – they are going to have an incredibly high, potentially unachievable, standard that when not met, is going to disappoint them. There is the opposite extreme, the people who cannot wait to see her fail in this roll, and will rejoice at every misstep along the way. I hate to say it, folks, but Nintendo YouTube is going to become hard to watch!
Ideally, folks fall into the third category; the category of people excited for a new voice at Nintendo, excited to see what happens under Devon’s watch, and who understand there could be little bumps along the way. I want everyone to be that person. Because Nintendo across the globe is a smart company, and smart companies hire good people. Devon is exactly what Nintendo needs in 2026, and I’m ready for it!
