SCUF Controllers for the Holiday Season: Reflex Wireless PlayStation 5 Controller

Reviewing controllers takes a bit of work, and we only received two Scuf wireless controllers last week. That said, our early impressions of both the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Reflex Wireless PlayStation Controller and the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Valor Pro Wireless Xbox controller are really positive. If you are looking for a controller to get as a last minute gift, or have a few extra dollars to spend after the holidays, these controllers make fantastic additions to your home console ecosystem.

Call of Duty: Reflex Wireless PlayStation 5 Controller

We recently talked about the Xbox SCUF Valor Pro controller and were impressed with the build quality and overall design of the product. The price point is obviously higher than other controllers on the market, but it was providing so much more for the end user. The exact same thing can be said for the SCUF Reflex Wireless controller with one exception in my opinion. The Valor Pro fixes a problem with the Xbox ecosystem, which is that first party Xbox controllers are (generally) not very good. I’m actually very impressed with first party PlayStation controllers, so if you are looking at this Reflex Wireless controller, it’s more about what it can do for you as opposed to what problems it might be fixing.

That said, like with the Valor Pro, and all SCUF Gaming products I assume, this controller is fantastic. The build quality is superior to any other PlayStation controller I have ever used, and I’ve used a lot. SCUF puts a lot of care and dedication into the design of their controllers, from the graphics on the outside to what it can do for players on the inside. The customizable back paddles is probably the reason you are picking this controller up, and for those who love sports, racing or shooters, there are some preset options available as well. Setting up the custom layout can be a bit tricky at first, but becomes really intuitive once you get use to it.

I absolutely hate when back buttons on customizable controllers push in too easily, so I’m happy to say that at the moment – and I’ve only had this a week – you need to consciously be pressing in those back buttons. The way I grip controllers has caused me issues in the past, where I accidently clicked in buttons I didn’t mean to. Here I can comfortably rest my fingers on the buttons without worrying about them clicking unless I want them to.

Like with the Valor Pro controller we reviewed for Xbox, this controller is using HALL effect joysticks which should prevent any stick drift over time. This uses a magnetic base for joystick movement as opposed to physical contact that wears down. These thumb sticks can also be swapped out for others, which helps create a perfect, comfortable gaming ecosystem.

We will have more to say on the Reflex Wireless in the new year, but you can check out this controller and so many others on the official SCUF Gaming website!
