More Thoughts From Me Special Edition: Animal Crossing Switch 2 and More?!
Today, October 30th, 2025, will go down as one of my favorite days. Why?! Well because I love Animal Crossing and Nintendo just announced some New Horizons news today. Let’s talk about it all and how I’m feeling about it.
Nintendo announced that Animal Crossing New Horizons will be getting a Switch 2 edition on January 15, 2026. The new edition will include some cool new features, such as mouse controls for moving furniture and being able to play up to 12 players online. There will be a physical release of the Switch 2 edition and an upgrade pack for people who already have the game on the regular Switch.
The most exciting news, though, is the free update for the game! Nintendo is adding a lot of new stuff to this game. First of all, there will be a new Hotel at the end of the dock. In the Hotel you can decorate rooms and invite guests to stay there, via amiibo or random. There will also be cool things to buy at the Hotel with points that you get, including some rare items like a Famicom, NES, Gameboy. And there are actual games on those systems!!
If that wasn’t enough, Nintendo will also be adding a new Dream Island, up to three, that you can create by yourself or with friends. Yes you can go to the new dream islands with friends. You can create or destroy together. You can also invite animals to the island too.
My mind was already being destroyed when I got to this part but then I saw that there was more. Resetti is coming back with a cool clean-up service. And there new collaborations, such an Lego furniture to get, Zelda furniture and NEW ANIMALS to invite to your campsite, Splatoon furniture and ANIMALS, and oh my god, I have to be forgetting something here….
This update is massive. My mind is blown. I didn’t think this was happening. All of thought that Nintendo was focusing on the next Animal Crossing for Switch 2. I would say, with this update coming, that it might still be able before we see a Switch 2 AC game. This update looks like its going to expand New Horizons and I would think, bring back some players that quit.
As a long time AC fan, I am so very excited about this update. Okay, I have to go watch that video again.
