The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales Demo First Impressions

Yesterday, Square Enix revealed a new HD-2D game for 2026. The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales looks great and best of all, a demo was released for it too. We checked out the demo and now have first impressions of it.

I played The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales some and now want to present to you my first impressions of the demo.

First of all, the graphics for The Adventures of Elliot are fantastic. HD-2D seems to get better with every new release. I especially love the look of the characters and the inside areas, especially dungeons. The game also has three dimensional maps for the outside and inside areas in the game which are pretty neat and give you a better look at where you’re going in the world.

The general menus is very well laid out too and I love how the items you have are represented in 3D and you can move weapons to equipped sections. Elliot is a really well designed game and that includes its combat which is a lot of fun.

Instead of turn-based, this game is action-based. Elliot feels more like a Mana game than a Final Fantasy game like previous HD-2D experiences. The combat is fun and the demo has let me try out a number of different weapons. I’m enjoying it a lot. The exploration in the game is very good too.

There is a lot to see and do in this demo so far: visiting a town, exploring outside of town and finding caves and treasure and areas with unique challenges. There are plenty of save points too. I like almost everything about the game expect for one thing…

My one complaint about the demo is that the fairy in the game can be annoying. Her voice is a bit squeaky and she will repeat various phrases over and over again. I wish we could turn off her voice acting. Its not a deal breaker though. Everything else about the game looks, sounds, and plays great.

I have more to play in this demo but based on what I’ve played so far, The Adventures of Elliot is going to be a can’t miss experience next year for fans of HD-2D and action rpgs.

Are you looking forward to The Adventures of Elliot?
