God of War: Ascension Going Digital, No more Multiplayer Content
Sony have announced that they’re bringing God of War: Ascension to the PlayStation Network this month. Although prices have yet to be announced, you can probably expect them to be roughly in-line with whatever your local brick and mortar stores are charging. That’ll probably be between £25-30, if you’re in the UK.
If you’re in the US, you’ll be able to pick up God of War: Ascension on October 15th. No other release dates have been announced, but the original announcement post claims it’ll be happening “soon after.”
This is great for those of us that held off on the original release for whatever reason, and are happy to have a digital copy of the game. It might also have something to do with it gearing up for a PlayStation Plus release early next year, so hold off unless you are really desperate for it.
Perhaps slightly bigger news: God of War: Ascension’s online mode will receive no more content. If you’re looking for new maps, modes or weapons, Santa Monica won’t be providing. They’re moving their staff onto other projects. That doesn’t mean that the online mode will be ignored from now on. There’s another balance update coming that’ll fix many of the bigger problems (and hopefully not cause any more). There will also be “dedicated online support,” in case there are any new problems.
This should all begin to happen over the next few weeks, so watch out when the PlayStation Store updates in the US Tuesday.
