Defending Camelot Review

If you need a strategy game to check out, perhaps you’ll want to defend Camelot? Check out our review to find out if Defending Camelot is worth saving.

Once upon a time, there was a king named Arthur who created a kingdom called Camelot. The evil Morgan La Fay did not like this and decided to start a war against the kingdom. And this is the story for Defending Camelot. Its a pretty basic story based on the King Arthur and Camelot legend. Its basically just setup for the gameplay and not altogether that important.

Defending Camelot plays a lot like Plants vs Zombies, a strategy game where you place your units/troops on one side of a line and on the other side of the line, enemies will come down. There is a left side and right side and several different lines. The enemy walk from the left and your units will stand still and attack them either as they get near or if they have magic or arrows, they’ll attack them from afar. You don’t actually control your units, you just place them.

As you progress through the campaign, you’ll unlock new troops to use against the enemy. You can train them in the barracks or if you have in-game money, you can buy new troops in the shop. The barracks, shop, and campaign are all available by the main menu. You’ll eventually unlock an endless mode too.

Defending Camelot isn’t an easy game. It starts out easy but it quickly gets tougher and you’ll have to carefully plan out where you place troops. You must be clear about what units you need. You have to watch carefully whats happening in the game because one wrong move will let one troop over to your side and thats game over. Defending Camelot seems simple on the surface but there’s so much strategy to be found here.

This is not a game for strategy newbies. If you’ve played Plants vs Zombies and loved it, then this will be right up your alley. If you’ve never played that game and you love strategy games, then you’ll want to check this out too. The controls are pretty easy and the game works well on the Switch. Its not a great looking game though.

Defending Camelot’s graphics are alright. The game looks like, perhaps, a PlayStation 1 game. The characters look find and the backgrounds are pretty plain.

Overall though, Defending Camelot is the kind of game that strategy fans will become addicted to. Its a game that has a lot of replay value. Don’t let the graphics discourage you from checking out this game. For strategy fans, this is well worth a look.
