Under the Island Review
Ready for a new adventure? Under the Island is a brand new indie game for Nintendo Switch that offers a colorful adventure that may just be something that old school gamers want to check out. Here’s our review of Under the Island for Nintendo Switch.

When Nia and her parents move to a new island, she thinks that this place will just be really boring. Nia quickly makes a new friend and together they discover that the island far from boring and harbors many secrets to be discovered!
Under the Island feels like a throw-back to the days of games like Earthbound and The Legend of Zelda. The game feels very much like a mix of Earthbound and Zelda, with a “normal” world mixed with Zelda-like combat. Instead of a sword, you wield a hockey stick. You wander around towns that seems like something you’d find in the real world and then also visit dungeons that feel like a mix of reality with fantasy.

Like a Zelda game, you’ll find keys and solve puzzles in the dungeons. There are plenty of enemies to fight too. Under the Island will give you hints to where you should go, even at save points you can get hints, but half the fan of this type of game is figuring it out on your own.
As for the game’s controls, they feel like an SNES game and old school players will be right at home with Under the Island. This game is really well designed and looks great too.
Under the Island has a very colorful and beautiful graphical style thats a cross between a Saturday Morning cartoon and classic games like Earthbound and A Link to the Past. There are some pretty obvious visual inspirations to the SNES Zelda game for sure. The game looks great and its a really fun game.

Under the Island is a very good game. Its another excellent edition to the Nintendo Switch’s library and players who are fans of Zelda, Earthbound and games like that will enjoy it a lot. It could very well end up being someone’s introduction into this genre of gameplay too. We recommend Under the Island to new and old players alike. Its well worth a look.
