Nintendo Releasing FireRed and LeafGreen on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2
Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen are coming to Nintendo Switch in time for Pokémon Day on February 27th. The two titles will be available on the Nintendo eShop for 29.99 CAD. The games will not be getting any new content when relaunched on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, outside of obvious wireless connectivity features.

The games will be available as separate downloads in English, French and Spanish – this will not be a toggle within the game, so when purchasing for yourself, be sure to purchase the language version that you want. While a mistake seems unlikely, it is possible!
Here is a bit from Nintendo of Canada bout the upcoming release:
In these Nintendo Switch versions of the 2004 remakes of the first Pokémon games Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green (originally released in Japan in 1996), players can encounter the games’ original 151 Pokémon. Enjoy the classic soundtrack and turn-based gameplay, and meet-up familiar faces like Brock, Misty, Professor Oak and Giovanni! These classic Game Boy Advance RPGs feature all of the updates introduced during the Game Boy Advance era, including abilities, natures, weather conditions, held items and the ability to select your player character’s gender. Nintendo Switch players can also now link up with friends via local co-op2 without the need to use a Game Link Cable like you did in 2004!
There have been mixed reactions to this news online, mostly from folks wondering why these games are not just being released via Nintendo Switch Online. While that question will never get a satisfactory answer – Nintendo says it would be fun to do it this way in their official FAQ – I do think it’s nice to get these games standalone products so that all Nintendo fans, regardless of whether they have Nintendo Switch Online or not, can enjoy them!
