Monster Hunter Stories 3 Demo Impressions
I am a huge fan of the Monster Hunter Stories series. I loved it when it first released on the Nintendo 3DS, and I still love it now. I’ve been playing through the Monster Hunter Stories 3 demo and really been enjoying my time with the game. I love that they haven’t altered the core gameplay much from Monster Hunter Stories 2, so for anyone coming from that game, there is plenty of things you will be familiar with. If you wanted something drastically different, I don’t think this is it. But if you just want more Stories content, get excited for March!

Check out my first impressions demo footage below!
Here is a brief synopsis of the game from the Nintendo eShop:
“0Azuria and Vermeil: two countries, on a path to destruction. When all hope seems lost, an egg is found. Inside is a Rathalos, a species thought to be extinct. But this quavering light of hope is quickly extinguished, giving way to the darkness of despair. Born from the egg is not a single Rathalos, but twins, bearing the Skyscale marking that hearkens back to the disastrous civil war of 200 years prior. The natural world teeters on the verge of destruction, with countless monster species facing extinction. In the shadow of these dark times, the flames of war rekindle. Two countries, and two Rathalos. A Rider and their trusted Rathalos, buffeted by the winds of fate, set out on a journey for the truth.”
So far I’ve been really impressed with the game. I think there are some technical elements that could be improved, but seeing as we are a few months away from launch, and this appears to be a pretty old demo that some media played a while ago, makes me hopeful for a better, cleaner version of the game in March. The gameplay, though, is rock solid, and fans of the franchise are going to be really happy with what is on offer here. The new Feral Enemies are a ton of fun to take down; in fact, all the boss fights I’ve expereinced in the demo so far have been insanely satisfying.
This is one to keep your eyes on – I’m having a great time with it, but don’t take my word for it. Our writer Daniel Fugate will have his thoughts as well coming soon!
