More Thoughts From Me: Stunned by the Tomodachi Life Direct

I am big fan of Tomodachi Life for the 3DS. I love that wacky Mii sim. And so I was really excited when Nintendo announced Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream for Nintendo Switch. I wasn’t sure what to expect and then I saw the recent Nintendo Direct about it. Oh my. We have to talk about this game!

I didn’t get to see the Tomodachi Life Living the Dream Direct on the day it was released.

I saw bits and pieces of the game on social media and thought it looked awesome. The next day I saw the whole thing…and I was completely floored.

Nintendo is taking Tomodachi Life to the next level. The game is going to do things that Animal Crossing isn’t even doing yet. Yes you can craft your own island somewhat with AC but in Tomodachi Life…you craft island, decorate it, design the houses, design the inhabitants of the island and even make pets, television shows, t-shirts and more for them.

This is a jaw-dropping amount of design work and creativity. Its amazing. What if the next Animal Crossing takes cues from this game? Wow.

That said, Tomodachi Life is still, first and foremost, all about watching what craziness your Mii inhabitants get up too. So in the Direct we saw that they can live together, date, have families, and more. You can try to get Mii characters to become friends and even pick the topic they’ll talk about. This game reminds me of the 3DS game, but it looks even better.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is going to be such a silly game. I want to play it NOW.

More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. WAIT! I want to talk to you about something else too. I think I…
