More Thoughts From Me: Excited About Dragon Quest 7 Again
Previously, I wrote about my time with the Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined demo. I just wanted to talk about again how excited I am for this game. I played the previous 3DS version and this one is going to be even better. Let’s talk about it!
Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined will be coming out on the Switch 2 and other platforms next week. February 5th, 2026 is the big day for the game. I’m so excited to play this game. Yes I played it before on the 3DS, but this version is taking the game to another level.
The graphics for DQ7 Reimagined are really beautiful. I love how the characters were dolls that were scanned in much like Fantasian did. The backgrounds look much more detailed than the previous versions too. Not only that Square Enix has streamlined the whole experience to make it much more accessible to players.
There are so many cool new things added to Dragon Quest 7. In this version you’ll be able to Zoom right away back to areas you’ve been before. Also there are no random battles. You see the enemies as you wander around. There is also an autosave along with the usual saving in churches. Dragon Quest 7 has a faster combat system too.
The story has been streamlined too. If you played the game on the 3DS, you know that this is a huge game and its easy to get lost in it. Reimagined is a more friendly version. They took some thing out of it and added some new stuff. They want it to be the best version of the game yet!
Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined is going to be fantastic on the Switch 2. Its really going to be good on the TV but I think it’ll be the best in portable mode. DQ7 is still much more of an old school rpg than say Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Either way you go, both games are well worth checking out.
