Bubsy 4D Launching May 22 – Special Retail Nintendo Edition Available
Fans of Bubsy can mark May 22nd on their calendars, as the latest Bubsy title will be landing on a variety of platforms on that date. Atari has announced that a physical special edition for the Nintendo Switch will also be available. According to Atari, the Nintendo Switch 1 and Nintendo Switch 2 physical edition will include, “a game cartridge, tuck-in exterior box, user manual, poster and artbook, for $39.99 on Nintendo Switch and $49.99 on Nintendo Switch 2, has a street date of May 22.”
Bubsy 4D is an upcoming 3D platformer that marks a major return for the long-running Bubsy franchise. Developed by indie studio Fabraz and published by Atari, the game is especially notable as the series’ first fully three-dimensional entry in nearly three decades, following the release of Bubsy 3D in 1996. The story leans into the the same odd experiences that have highlighted the Bubsy franchise for decades: after the abduction of all the Earth’s sheep, the flock unexpectedly revolts, transforming into powerful robotic enemies. Bubsy, joined by his friends, sets off on an interstellar chase to stop them and recover the legendary Golden Fleece.
Turns out that Bubsy took a break from his adventure to provide a quote regarding his upcoming game! “Get ready for the comeback you never saw coming,” said Bubsy T. Bobcat. “It’s no secret that I’ve got a questionable track record, but Atari and Fabraz are determined to give me the game I’ve always deserved. This time, my claws are out and I’m ready to show off.”
Bubsy 4D will launch on May 22, 2026 for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, Windows and GOG, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, and Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Xbox Play Anywhere for $19.99 (USD).
