Two Point Museum: Zooseum First Impressions
I’ve been playing a bit of Two Point Museum: Zooseum over the past week, and I have to say that I’m really impressed with what the Two Point Studios team has been doing. Between this DLC release and Fantasy Finds, this is such a fantastic package and is so worth the price you will pay for entry. Zooseum does a lot of different things with this release, which some people are going to dislike, but I think most people will love.

How you earn and unlock new items and locations in Zooseum is so much different than on other maps. Animals need to be brought back, healed, and returned to the wild to earn points, and these points will unlock new places to visit. This pushes players to make a lot of strategic decisions: an animal in your zoo is probably producing some nice buzz, but getting it back into the wild will earn you some sweet sweet points, and open up new areas to explore.
The map is fantastic, but it’s the sheer number of things you can find and put into your zoo that gets me most excited. The balance of animals by biome isn’t even at all – more animals coming as free updates? – but building out a zoo around my museum has been a lot of fun. Whether you are placing exhibits inside or outside, it creates a brand new way to think about the zoos you are working with. My previous zoos were generally singular large buildings with minimal effort given to outside decorations. Everything was inside, and I was about making my buildings as big as the land would allow. With Zooseum, you need to think differently about your layout, as you’ll need outdoor areas for animal exhibits.

Speaking of those exhibits, they function differently as well, even compared to fish tanks for the base game. Each enclosure can have a specific biome, but determining what you need to put into a biome is based on an animals exhibit density requirements. The more you put into it, the more dense it becomes. Some animals love tons of trees, some just want a few rocks. Finding that balance is quite.
Our own Kevin Austin will have a more thorough review of this DLC soon, but if you are on the fence, hopefully this has tipped you to the buy side! It’s a fantastic DLC, and I cannot wait to see what Two Point Studios does next. Unfortunately, this probably is curtains on a Two Point Zoo game, though!
