Marvel Cosmic Invasion First Impressions
On Monday, a brand new Marvel Comics game was released. The game is called Marvel Cosmic Invasion and its a sidescrolling beat ’em up game in the same vain as classics like Spider-man Maximum Carnage and Captain America & the Avengers. We bought it, downloaded and now we have some first impressions to share with you.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion is now available for Nintendo Switch 1 and 2 and various other systems. I’m playing the Switch 2 version. Here are my first impressions of the game:
If you’ve played old school beat ’em ups like Final Fight, Double Dragon, Spider-man Maximum Carnage and other SNES/Genesis classics, then you’ll have an idea of Marvel Cosmic Invasion’s gameplay. If not, it boils down to this: a cosmic villain is threating the universe and a group of heroes have come together to stop it. You can play as the hero you want to and one other that you can switch between or use combo acts with. Then you go into each level and fight from left to right (mostly). This is a sidescrolling beat ’em up. It starts out easy, but don’t let it fool you: the difficulty ramps up.
As someone who played all the old school beat ’em ups, especially the superhero ones, I feel right at home with Marvel Cosmic Invasion’s controls. I’m playing the game in portable mode and the joycons work really well with this game. Its easy to learn the combos and special moves. Switching between characters is great and you can even just call your friend in briefly to help out. My favorite characters so far are Spider-man, Wolverine, She-Hulk, Phoenix, and Rocket.
There is local and online multiplayer but I won’t be able to check out the local multiplayer. I may check out the online and share my thoughts later on that.

This game also has fantastic 2D graphics. All the characters and environments are extremely detailed. Cosmic Invasion looks like an old school game but it also doesn’t. This game is way too detailed for the SNES or Genesis. It also has wonderful voice acting and music too. The voice acting especially makes me happy because there are so many easter eggs within the story and during the quick comments the characters make while fighting (from Spidey & She-hulk there’s a lot)
I’m having a blast with Marvel Cosmic Invasion so far. I’m so glad I got this game. I’m also hoping like Shredder’s Revenge, which is from the same developer, there will be DLC for this game. I’d love to see even more characters and cool places to visit.
Have you checked out Marvel Cosmic Invasion? What do you think of it?
