Can Two Point Museum Be Successful on Nintendo Switch 2?
Real Time Strategy and Tycoon games generally don’t perform favorably on consoles because they lack the key ingredient these games really do need: mouse support. Even though SEGA has done a great job handling controls for the Two Point County games, there is still no comparing controller and a mouse when it comes to this style game. That’s all changing with the launch of Two Point Museum on Nintendo Switch 2, at least I thought it was.

In a recent interview with Nintendo Life, the developers behind Two Point Museum dropped a little nugget that I think caught a lot of people off guard: there will be no mouse support for Two Point Museum on Nintendo Switch 2, at least not at launch. I had to go back and play the clip again, because I was certain there was NO way this wasn’t getting mouse support on day one.
I think most fans of the franchise expected the game to release on Nintendo Switch 2 with mouse support. After all, the game initially released in March 2025, and with no launch on the original Nintendo Switch 2, most people figured it would be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 at some point. As the months went by and the game still didn’t land, I think most people thought that was understandable: it is a different console than Xbox and PlayStation, and of course, mouse controls!

Fortunately, the development team said that they are looking into implementing mouse controls for the game on Nintendo Switch 2, and while that prospect excites me, the number of comments on the Nintendo Life video of people NOT willing to purchase the game without it blew my mind. The Nintendo Switch 2 is doing really well, and this seems like a game made for this console, both in it’s esthetic and gameplay. To see so many people saying, “I’m not picking this up now.” was insane to me, and makes me worried about the future of the franchise on Nintendo consoles.
If no one buys it, will Two Point and SEGA even bother implementing the controls people really want? Can Two Point Museum be successful on Nintendo Switch 2? Only time will tell.
