Children’s and family entertainment company Playground Productions today announced the relaunch of “Backyard Football ’99.” The new gaming title continues a banner year for the production company, following the success of Playground’s previously released chart-topping titles, which include Backyard Baseball ’97, Backyard Baseball ‘01, and Backyard Soccer ’98.  The new release advances Playground’s mission to cultivate a multi-generational community through gaming, sports, and animated content that is engaging, inclusive, and uplifting.

“Backyard Football ‘99 made me a football fan for life. From learning plays to managing teams, this game made football accessible, fun, and exciting for all ages. I am so proud to bring it back in time for football season,” said Lindsay Barnett, CEO of Playground Productions, which owns Backyard Sports, in announcing the launch.

Returning players to the game include Barry Sanders, Dan Marino, Drew Bledsoe, Jerry Rice, John Elway, Randall Cunningham, and Steve Young.

“Backyard Sports holds a special place in the hearts of sports fans. Joining Backyard Football in 1999 was a great honor, and I’m excited to celebrate its relaunch for fans old and new,” said Barry Sanders, veteran Running Back for the Detroit Lions.

“Bringing this game back to a new generation of fans and reconnecting with the OGs makes me so excited at this moment in time,” said Dan Marino, the longtime Miami Dolphins quarterback. “This moment is ripe for introducing these games because kids today crave connection more than ever, and games like these offer a fantastic platform to experience the fun and excitement of the sport I’ve loved for so long.”

As with the other relaunching titles, the game hails from Mega Cat Studios. Mega Cat and a dedicated team of passionate fans have made the impossible possible by making Backyard accessible on modern devices by reverse engineering the original CD-ROM to bring this game back to life.
