Undivine is one of those indie titles that quietly slips onto the scene, but once you dive in, it leaves a lasting impression. Developed by Brainium Games and Deadpix Studios, this Metroidvania-style action RPG invites players into a bleak, mysterious world where every corner hides a secret and every enemy demands your full attention.
From the moment you start, it’s clear that Undivine isn’t interested in holding your hand. There’s no glowing path or constant guidance—just you, your instincts, and a sprawling, interconnected map that begs to be explored. It’s a bold design choice that pays off, especially for players who enjoy the thrill of discovery and the satisfaction of piecing together a story on their own.
Combat is tough, no doubt about it. Enemies hit hard, and bosses are relentless. But once you get the rhythm down, it becomes a rewarding dance of dodges, strikes, and well-timed counters. The game doesn’t reinvent the wheel here, but it executes the fundamentals well enough to keep you engaged. Add in some light RPG mechanics—stat upgrades, gear customization, and skill trees—and you’ve got a system that feels just deep enough without becoming overwhelming.
Visually, Undivine leans into its dark atmosphere. The environments are sparse but striking, with a minimalist art style that complements the game’s somber tone. The soundtrack is equally haunting, often fading into the background until it swells at just the right moment to heighten tension or underscore a quiet revelation.
Narratively, the game is cryptic. You won’t find lengthy cutscenes or exposition dumps here. Instead, the story unfolds through environmental clues, item descriptions, and brief, enigmatic encounters with NPCs. It’s a slow burn, but for those who enjoy unraveling lore piece by piece, it’s a satisfying experience.
On PS5, Undivine runs smoothly. Load times are quick, frame rates are stable, and the DualSense controller adds a subtle layer of immersion with its haptic feedback. It’s not a technical showcase, but it’s polished where it counts.
Ultimately, Undivine is a game that rewards patience, curiosity, and perseverance. It’s not for everyone—some players may find the lack of direction frustrating or the combat too punishing—but for fans of atmospheric exploration and challenging gameplay, it’s a hidden gem worth uncovering.

Married and father of 3 children he has been gaming since the ripe age of 6 when he got his first NES system and over 30 years later he is still gaming almost daily. Some of his favorite gaming series includes Fallout and Far Cry, he is a sucker for single player adventure games (hence his big reviews for Playstation), and can frequently be found getting down in one battle royale or another. If it's an oddball game, odds are he's all about it.
