More Than Just Food – Disney Cruise Line Entertainment

As of tomorrow, we are exactly 30 days away from upcoming sailing on Disney Cruise Line, and we could not be more excited. While we are always excited for the food – my wife is looking forward to Mexican Hotpockets and Empanadas – there are a number of entertainment options on Disney Cruise Line that go above plain music. As a longtime video game fan – and obviously we are a video game heavy site – the entertainment aboard Disney Cruise Line scratches that magical, fantasy itch!

First and foremost, you need to get on these ships and head over to the Walt Disney Theatre for a number of different shows across the fleet. Each ship has their own ‘variety’ show, which showcases different songs from Disney’s long history, but others are broadway style productions that are absolutely phenomenal. As a techie, I enjoy watching how everything works, from the sounds and lights to the use of projectors to create magical, fantasy worlds.

Over the past decade, we have had the privilege to see Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, Tangled, and more, and each and every time the experience is absolutely magical. For me, it’s not about what Disney is doing, but what Disney is doing AT SEA! Unlike a theatre on land, which can almost have limitless space and opportunities, everything on a cruise ship is compacted and requires a lot more thought. From rolling props to stage doors, and more, Disney Cruise Line productions are technological masterpieces using every trick in the book to transform a theatre at sea into amazing worlds.

Alright Marvel fans, if you travel on Disney’s two newest ships – and soon on their upcoming ship – you’ll be able to eat in Worlds of Marvel, which is a dinner show that is sure to excite longtime fans. Unique shows have been crafted for the ships featuring all your favorite Marvel characters, and they do a lot of really cool and interesting things within the restaurant using a wide variety of technologies.

Central on each table is a Quantum Core which not only is used to interact with the restaurant’s story, but also is used for trivia. Again, the technology Disney uses at sea is absolutely outstanding, and this restaurant is one you cannot miss.

It’s been a while since I’ve been in a kids club at sea, but Disney Oceaneers Lab and Oceaneers Club is also full of technological advancements that make the kids clubs another Disney marvel. What I do know is that we are taking our kids this time, and I heard you can build your own rollercoaster!

I want to try that out during an open house. On the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy, the clubs have an interactive dance floor that’s filled with great games for kids! I’ve played them, and they are loads of fun!

There is so much more on Disney Cruise Line you just cannot miss. Yes, our website has primarily done video game content for the last decade and a half, but we’ve slowly sprinkled in other things we believe our readers will love including board games, toys, movies and TV.

Over the past few years we’ve branched out again to cover popular vacation destinations that we think video game fans would enjoy, specifically because of the entertainment and the technology behind how it all works.

Disney Cruise Line provides this in spades. I’ve been to the Star Wars Lounge aboard the Disney Wish, and it was amazing. I cannot wait to visit the Haunted Mansion Parlour aboard the Disney Treasure in just a few weeks. There is so much to see on Disney Cruise Line, and we think you, our loyal readers, will love this experience! Set up your next Disney Cruise Line vacation by visiting their official website!
