Neon Inferno Turns Up The Heat

Neon Inferno Turns Up The Heat At Steam Next Fest

The cybernetically augmented gunslingers at publisher Retroware and New York-based indie studio Zenovia Interactive are poised to immerse players in a high-energy, cyberpunk dystopia as Neon Inferno blazes onto Steam Next Fest.

The event, which takes place from June 9th through the 16th, will feature a new playable demo, allowing players to soothe their itchy trigger fingers with a brand-new stage to blast their way through and deadly target to eliminate. Whether you’re going lone wolf or with a friend in the game’s chaotic co-op mode, this demo is the perfect chance to experience Neon Inferno’s brutal brand of neon-saturated carnage ahead of the game’s release on consoles and Steam.

You can find more information on Neon Inferno, as well as wishlist the game, on its official Steam Page. More important details will be announced at The MIX Summer Game Showcase, which takes place from June 3-6.

For a taste of what’s in store, check out the latest trailer for the game here.

Developed by Zenovia Interactive and published by Retroware, Neon Inferno lets players take on the role of either Angelo or Mariana as they fight for a fledgling crime family striving for power against a corrupt NYPD and other crime syndicates in the war-torn metropolis.

With “Bullet Time,” players can deflect certain projectiles back at enemies they choose–regardless of whether they’re in the foreground or background! With multiple upgrades available to equip between missions, multiple difficulties, including an Arcade Mode, and two-player co-op available, players will be able to tackle their missions however they choose.

Neon Inferno will blaze a bloody trail onto the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam later this year.

Key Features:

  • Shoot close, aim far: a dynamic blend of side-scroller and gallery-shooter, where the action takes place in both foreground and background (like playing Contra and Wild Guns at the same time).

  • Glorious 32-bit Style: A sci-fi cityscape rendered in beautiful pixel art and backed by an evocative soundtrack

  • Two-Player Co-op: With danger lurking around every street corner, wouldn’t you be better off with a friend?

  • Satisfying Arcade Challenge: Enjoy a playthrough on an easier mode…or put your skills and resilience to the test with 1-credit-clear arcade mode.

About Zenovia Interactive: Neon Inferno is the second title from Zenovia Interactive, a fully remote and international game studio based in New York City and founded by Sri Kankanahalli in 2019. The company’s previous title was Steel Assault, released in late 2021.

About Retroware: “We’re all about modern retro games. We develop, publish, make merch, and run arcades. Bringing you retro experiences with modern conveniences.”
