Dragon Quest 3’s Stunning HD-2D Visual Update

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D is coming out very soon, November 14th, 2024, and the game continues to look amazing. More footage came out for the game today, this time for the Playstation 5. We have that footage, plus we talk about the game’s stunning visual update.

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D comes out on November 14th, 2024. New footage was released today for the Playstation 5. There was also footage out of Japan that compared the original Dragon Quest 3 to the new one.

I played Dragon Quest 3’s Nintendo Switch port and thought it was really neat. That said, the HD-2D update is absolutely stunning. The upgrade from 8-bit to HD-2D is jaw dropping. The amount of detail thats been added to Dragon Quest 3 is out of this world, with every character and every object packed with details. Not only that but look at the combat!

In combat, we see the party at first and then the game goes to the traditional first person look with us only seeing the enemy and the party’s attacks on them. The visual update on the Dragon Quest enemies, bringing them into HD-2D, is shown off so well in these battles. Its fantastic that they left it in first person mode because the enemy design really shines in battles. As a long time Dragon Quest fan, I have to say that I love seeing all of these characters in HD-2D.

I’ve reviewed Octopath Traveler 2, Triangle Strategy, and Live A Live. All of those HD-2D games were beautiful, however Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D looks like the best one yet!
