More Thoughts From Me: The Fantastic Metaphor Refantazio

When I reviewed Persona 5 Royal on the Switch, it blew me away and made me a fan of the series. Since then I’ve played Persona 4 on Switch and Persona 3 Reload on Xbox. I can’t wait to play more of that series. In the meantime though, Metaphor Refantazio, a brand new series, is coming out soon and it definitely has aspects of Persona while also being its own thing! Let’s talk about it.

Metaphor Refantazio comes out on October 11th, 2024, which is pretty soon. And it looks absolutely jaw dropping!

While there are aspects of Persona in the game, the tall, young characters, time management, and stylish menus for instance, Metaphor Refantazio will also have a class system with 40 classes and a very unique steampunk look. Its very much its own unique series with a world that leans more toward fantasy than Persona’s darker supernatural vibe.

Thats not to say that Metaphor doesn’t have darker, weird enemies too. Oh my goodness it does! But the world has steampunky buildings and vehicles and an atmosphere that takes it out of our realm completely.

And then there’s the game’s combat!

Metaphor does have turn-base combat but when you go up against weaker enemies, you take them out via real time combat. This unique blend of real-time and turn-based is probably the thing that sets this series apart from Persona the most. Persona is 100% a turn-based affair. Metaphor will have you hacking and slashing and going over to turn-based for harder enemies, though you can attack them first in real time too.

There will be plenty of dungeons in Metaphor too. Lots of other things to do too like build relationships with your teammates. The game will likely be over 100 hours! This is going to be a huge game.

I have so much excitement for Metaphor. It just looks like its going to be one of the best Altus rpgs yet.

Are you excited about Metaphor Refantazio?

More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. Wish I could play this game now!
