Kevin’s Halloween Hitlist: Night Springs DLC for Alan Wake 2

So this one will be a little different, I have written in the past on my love for Alan Wake 2, but I honestly had forgotten about the DLC and decided to give it a whirl. So here we go, totally fits the vibe regardless.

Alan Wake 2: Night Springs DLC Review – A Bite-Sized Remedy Treat

blank

Night Springs is a three-episode Twilight Zone esque DLC expansion for Alan Wake 2 that delves deeper into the twisted world of Bright Falls. While it doesn’t offer a substantial campaign like the main game, it delivers a satisfying dose of Remedy’s signature blend of horror, mystery, and a touch of the absurd.

Highlights:

  • Short and Sweet: Each episode offers a self-contained narrative, making it perfect for shorter gaming sessions.
  • Character-Driven Stories: The DLC focuses on various characters from the Alan Wake universe, providing them with their own unique arcs and motivations.
  • Remedy’s Signature Style: Fans of Remedy’s previous games will appreciate the familiar blend of atmospheric storytelling and intense action sequences.
  • A Touch of the Absurd: While the horror elements are present, Night Springs also introduces a healthy dose of humor and over-the-top situations.

Criticisms:

  • Lack of Gameplay Innovation: While the DLC offers new storylines and characters, the gameplay mechanics remain largely unchanged from the main game.
  • Short Length: For those seeking a lengthy, in-depth experience, Night Springs may feel a bit too brief.

Overall:

Alan Wake 2: Night Springs is a well-crafted DLC expansion that offers a satisfying continuation of the series. While it may not be as substantial as the main game, it’s a worthwhile addition for fans who want to spend more time in the eerie world of Bright Falls. This was an amazing experience that brought even more greatness to an already great game. There are some surprise appearances I don’t want to spoil for anyone who didn’t play already.

Conclusion: STRONGLY RECOMMEND
