Last night, a demo for Emio The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club was released. We checked out the demo and now have some thoughts on it.

Emio The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club is a sequel to the previous Famicom Detective Club games. Those games were remade on the Nintendo Switch. We reviewed the remake and thought it was worth checking out. A demo was released yesterday for Emio. We checked that out too! Here’s what we thought:

The demo for Emio The Smiling Man is pretty short. At least so far. There is going to be another update soon that will add to the demo. At the moment you can play the prologue and the first chapter. Its a pretty interesting though!

The gameplay is much like the first game: you ask questions and look at your surroundings to solve the mystery. Its basically an Adventure game meets Visual novel experience. Much like the remake, Emio The Smiling Man won’t be for everyone. We suggest checking out the demo first.

It was an interesting demo that laid out the start of the case and introduced some of the game’s characters. Nintendo will be adding two more parts to this demo and progress will continue over to the full game. This demo is well worth downloading, especially if you plan to pick up the full game.

Will Emio be better than the remake of the originals? Its too early to tell. The demo was very short and played similar to the other game. If you liked the remake, then you’ll definitely like this game too.

We’ll check out the rest of the demo when its released and let you know what we think of that too. As of right now, if you like adventure games, visual novels, or even just mysteries, then you should check out this demo.

Emio the Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club comes out on August 29th, 2024. The demo is available now on the Nintendo Switch eshop!
