Do you like farming games? Do you like dinosaurs? What if we told you there was a game where you could befriend dinosaurs and have them in a pen on a ranch? If this sounds good to you, then check out review of Paleo Pines for the Xbox Series!
In Paleo Pines, you have a ranch and you farm. Seems normal so far yes? Well, you also have a dinosaurs on your farm and you can befriend more dinosaurs! Paleo Pines has a cute story, but the most important part is the gameplay and the gameplay is too frustrating.
Befriending dinosaurs in Paleo Pines is tough. It shouldn’t be this tough. You have a flute that calls to the dinosaurs and you have to repeat the exact right colored bubbles that the dinos spit at you. If you don’t, then you’ll be in an endless cycle and want to throw your controller. Some dinos are picky too, which means even if you get the flute calls right, you could still lose them because you don’t calm them right or feed them the right thing. Befriending them can be absolutely aggravating.
Even after you befriend them though, you have to keep them. Each of the dinosaurs have needs and wants. If you don’t get everything for them, they may run off on you. You also can only ride your first dino right away and have to earn the trust of the other dinos. That can be a frustrating experience too. Honestly we’re not sure if getting and keeping dinos is worth all this aggravation. The controls could be a bit better with building stuff and of course with the dino flute, but otherwise it plays fine.
All the other activities in the game like sidequests to get stuff or farming are pretty easy. These quests are just what you’d expect from a farming game. There are a lot of areas to explore and lots of cool things to find. Its always amazing when you see a new dino or item you need. There are is so much to like about this game despite the frustrating aspects.
Paleo Pines is just too frustrating with its dino friending/keeping. If you can get things figured out with that though, you will likely have a good time. The best thing about the game is absolutely its graphics.
Paleo Pines’ graphics are really cute and the dinos are adorable. There are so many wonderful small touches with the seasons and after it rains theres even puddles on the ground. The graphics are great. Meanwhile the game’s music is nice but there isn’t much musical variety. The dinos do make cute sounds though.
Overall, Paleo Pines is cute looking but its frustrating gameplay keeps it from being a great experience. Paleo Pines looks like it should be a super relaxing game! Its not but the graphics and the charm of the game could keep you playing. Its not a bad game at all, though managing the dinosaurs could be so much better. The controls could be better too. Still if you can grabble with dinosaur befriending and keeping, there is a good game here that is worth checking out.
