Pikmin 2
With a new Pikmin game on the way, Nintendo released Pikmin 1 and 2 on the Nintendo Switch to help build the hype. We were lucky to receive a review code for the second game and took a look at it. How is Pikmin 2 on the Nintendo Switch? Here is our review!
Pikmin 2 is the second game in the Pikmin series. It originally appeared on the GameCube. In this game, you play as Captain Olimar and Louie as they try to collect more objects with the help of Pikmin in order to pay off debt that the company they work for owes. The story is simple but a really good setup for the most important part of Pikmin: its gameplay.
In Pikmin 2, just like the other games in the series, you use the small creatures to collect objects of all kinds: from dead enemies, to plants, or random objects you find here and there. The game’s controls are very easy to learn and the gameplay seems simple but its very addictive.
The gameplay loop of finding objects, getting out of there before the nighttime and then returning the next day for more is really good. Pikmin 2 is a fun game. However, its graphics have not aged well.
Pikmin 2’s graphics were good on the Gamecube but on the Nintendo Switch, the graphics have not aged all too well. This is especially noticeable when you compare this game to the upcoming Pikmin 4. Its too bad this game didn’t get a remaster like Metroid Prime did. Still, the graphics are not horrible, the Pikmin still look great, and the gameplay is a ton of fun.
Even though this is not a remaster, Pikmin 2 is still a really fun game. The gameplay is addictive and if this is your first Pikmin game, you’ll be hooked. Pikmin 2 is another great addition to the Nintendo Switch!
Thanks to Nintendo Canada for providing a digital code for this review. Pikmin 2 is now available for the Nintendo Switch.
