More Thoughts From Me: Back to the Wild

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been out for awhile. Six years! And soon, we’ll be getting a sequel to the game: Tears of the Kingdom. Its been awhile since I last played Breath of the Wild, so I thought I’d play it again. Here are my thoughts on revisiting Breath of the Wild and what I’ve been doing.

I originally played and beat Breath of the Wild on the Wii U. It was a few years before I got the Switch version and I’ve never beaten the game on the Switch. I could have gone back to my save and tried to beat the game. But I decided not too. I thought it would be fun to start all over again. I’m not sure if I’ll try to beat the game though. Its just fun playing this game again!

When I started playing Breath of the Wild on the Switch recently, I decided not to do things the normal way. So at first, I avoided the plot. I just went off wandering around. I ran into a big stone creature earlier than usual and quickly ran away. Then I found the fire arrows a bit sooner. And, best of all, I traveled toward a mountain, climbed it, and found a Korok seed puzzle that I had never seen before! Breath of the Wild continues to surprise even after all these years.

Of course, I couldn’t avoid the plot forever. So I went and got everything done that I had to do to get the glider. It was time to get out of the starting area!

Once I glided into the main Hyrule area, I decided again that I’d avoid the main plot. I haven’t gone to plot destination yet. I’ve been wandering around gathering materials, visiting shrines, and just messing about. I even found a huge abandoned coliseum that I didn’t remember. I traveled far into the mountains and back again finding lots of items to cook and craft with.

Just wandering around in Breath of the Wild is amazing. If I keep playing the game, I’ll have to go to the plot destination sooner or later, but I want to put that off as long as possible. I want to keep searching finding stuff that I’ve never found before!

Most of all, this is training for Tears of the Kingdom. I wonder what surprises are in store for us with that game.
