Google Pixel Watch is Finally Coming

Ever since Google began making their Pixel lineup of phones, the rumours have always been strong about the possibility of getting a Google Pixel Watch. And for years, we hold our breath as these Google summits happen, and sign when they end without mention of a Pixel Watch. Until this years, when during their Google I/O event, the company finally unveiled the most anticipated Google Pixel product ever, the Google Pixel Watch.

On the surface, the watch actually doesn’t look that appealing, at least to me. That being said, as you begin diving into the particulars of the watch, you quickly realize that Google is doing things different than the competition. First and foremost, unlike the leading watch in the industry, the Apple Watch, Google is going with a round  watch face, similar to what Samsung has been using on their Android watches.

Fitbit will play a key role in what the Google Pixel Watch can do, now that the company owns the Fitbit brand. So expect a ton of fitness options right at your fingertips. The company also promises a host of Google applications, including Google home. Controlling all of your home devices just became easier. No need to pull that phone out of your pocket, because now you can do it all from your watch! It also has voice recognition built in, which is expected in 2022.

The one downside to the Google Pixel Watch is that it will not work with iOS devices. While initially I thought this was a pretty big miss for the company, I than began to think about it rationally. Do many Android based watches work on iOS now? No. And will many Apple users buy a Google watch? Again, probably not. It could still be a miss for some, but I don’t see that being a big issue moving forward.
