Nintendo Direct Announced For 2/17/21
Nintendo of America announced a Direct on Twitter today! This will be the first Nintendo Direct of 2021.
The Nintendo Direct will air at 4pm central time! It will be “roughly 50 minutes of information” according to Nintendo’s tweet. That is a really long Direct! Nintendo tends to reveal a lot of games in a short amount of time so what could they reveal in 50 minutes?!
Nintendo points out Super Smash Bros Ultimate especially. That will mean we’ll get a new character for sure, but could it mean more than that? Is a big update on the way for the game? It seems unlikely, however Nintendo must have something big in mind if they are spotlighting Smash in their announcement of the Direct.
We also know that Nintendo will focus on “games coming to #NintendoSwitch in the first half of 2021.” Bravely Default 2 comes out next week. That will get a spotlight for sure. Also Monster Hunter Rise and Crash 4 are out in March. I wouldn’t be surprised to see those games. Pokemon Snap in April will most definitely get a focus. However we have no idea what is coming in May. Also there is no Nintendo game coming in March, so it is possible we could get one announced.
It should be noted that while Nintendo says that it’ll talk about games in the first half of this year, they always have announcements for one or two games for later in the year. So don’t be surprised if you see a game with a “2021” date or “later in 2021”.
Another thing: its The Legend of Zelda’s 35th anniversary soon. Nintendo will announce something. Maybe it’ll be Smash related? Maybe it’ll be a remaster? Though maybe we’ll see more of Breath of the Wild 2 finally. It could also be all three things. Nintendo might have a huge Zelda focus here.
And as an Animal Crossing fan, I’m really hoping we’ll see something for that game too. Nintendo may show off the next update. Its Mario items!
Oh and I’ve barely talked about 3rd Party games. We will see some new games announced from other companies for the Switch. What could it be? I’m hoping something else from Square Enix. Hmm.
With the Nintendo Direct being 50 minutes long expectations for this one are going to be insane. Everyone is going to have a lot of guesses. Most of us will be wrong!
What do you think Nintendo will show off tomorrow?
