More Thoughts From Me #259: The Fury of Bowser

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury comes out for the Nintendo Switch this Friday! 3D World was a really good game on the Wii U and it looks like it’ll be even better on the Switch. But what about Bowser’s Fury? Will this part of the game be fun? I’ll look at what we know about the mode and guess to whether it’ll be good or not. Let’s a go!

Bowser’s Fury is a new mode added to Super Mario 3D World. From what we know of it, the player will be dropped into a new, more open area where they will take on some familiar challenges and some not so familiar ones too.

The platforming in Bowser’s Fury looks similar to what we’ve seen in 3D World. Riding the dinosaur is something that can be found in the core game too. However there are some very interesting twists to Bowser’s Fury.

First of all, Bowser Jr is your partner in this mode! He can be controlled by a second player or be the computer. Bowser’s Fury is more of a single player/two-player experience, whereas the main game is something that can be played with up to four players.

The most interesting twist however? The giant Mario vs. giant Bowser battles. These new battles look like they might give Godzilla Vs. Kong a run for their money. We don’t know how the battles exactly play out but we do know that a giant Bowser will show up and that Mario can seek out a powerup to make himself just as big.

Bowser’s Fury looks like an epic addition to the Super Mario 3D World. Its not at all what one might expect for added content. Its more open world seems similar to Super Mario Odyssey and yet there are a lot of 3D World elements in the mode. Its a very interesting combination of two very different 3D Mario games.

And it looks like an amazing mode! Hopefully we’ll be able to check it out right from the start. It would be very cool to choose between modes whenever the players want. Bowser’s Fury is supposed to be a shorter mode but it looks like it’ll be a ton of fun.
